Abstract

While the concept of Islamic religious education is an attempt teachings of Islam and its values in order to handle a person’s life. Islamic religious education has the objective of a tiered, starting from primary school to junior high school focused on the growth of faith and devotion to start learning the Qur’an, and worship practices in order verbalistic habituation and implementation efforts, for senior high school or equivalent is directed at the growth of faith and devotion by having the ability to read and write the Qur’an and worship practices wiith own consciousness. Geared to college in the mastery of science education and the life of worship practices not only for himself but has had the ability to transfer to the community and be an example for them. Islamic education also has developed after independence. The developments can be divided into three phases. The first phase (1946-1965), religious eucation is still looking for the form and format, and seem less important. The second phase (1966-1989), religious education has received attention from the government and people of Indonesia. And lastly, the third phase (1990-present), the position of religious education is increasingly imprtant and strategic.
