Abstract

The article discusses the participation of high school committee in the era of the free education program in Watampone. The results show that the committee’s position is quite strong and permanent, because legality, it is based on Law No. 25 of 2000, and followed up with the decision letter of Educational Minister No. 044/U/2002 that the school committee is an independent body that represents community participation. However, after the implementation of the free education program the committee was somewhat surprised to the banning of picking up payment, even some of them reluctantly worked. Similarly, their role was just moderate, while their participation was in vey low level. Their obstacles to participate were quite various including psychological, political, bureaucratic, economic and juridical aspects. Kata Kunci: Komitesekolah, Pendidikan gratis
